A Springfield Operator has a rail, as does one of the Sig GSR models, I have also seen the option from other manufacturers such as Nighthawk Custom.

Thats true, you can get a 1911 with a rail. But I would not go Springfield (personally had bad experiences) and I have heard some not so good things about the Sig 1911.

I think S&W makes a railed 1911, but not sure. I guess that is what I would go with if hell bent on a 1911.

rumors

Ed Brown uses Baer frames; Wilson uses 'Kimber' frames.
Not sure if Caspian supplies both with slides.

vs facts:

The only TRP I've handled was absolutely superb, in fit, finish, trigger.

I would contact EGW for base-gun advice, and send it to them for enhancements.

Those are some wild rumors

Wilson makes their own frames and slides, see here:

There's a thread here where many people say they have no issues with their Sig GSR. Also, a Springfield is a well respected 1911 manufacturer with a loyal following.

I don't like how the guns look with a rail myself.

I personally don't like a rail on a 1911, but who cares what I think, if you need one then get one

Also based on all that I've read the Springfield TRP is a very well made and solid pistol, some say an equal of the high 1grand to 2grand semi customs.

If I was going door to door, I think I would rather have a HK USP or USP Expert, simply because I could hang a light off the front end of it.
I wouldn't want either of those because they have a proprietary rail. A GLOCK
21 at least has a universal rail for mounting amost every makers light/laser. Look at the difference in these two pics-

Then I only have one reply...HK45

Is the HK 45 a double or single stack? How many cartridges does a mag hold?

Is that a standard picatinny rail?

I agree the proprietary HK rail on the USP and Expert is a drawback.

For the most refined polymer, and yet also most bomb proof, .45 auto, I'd go with HK45 too.

further 'mongering:

Better stated: Wilson gets their frames at the same place Kimber gets theirs (I noticed no mention of "where" on the Wilson link).

Facts is facts, ay?
I mean, vs rumors.....

Thanks a lot guys. I will be looking at high end Springers & S&W, as well as the HK45/USP45. Have heard nothing but good things about it. Thanks a lot guys, I really appreciate it. Keep shooting buddies and keep America safe.
