Just got this older S&W Model 37 today for $200

I tried to find history on this with little luck so far.

I just picked up this obviously older S&W Model 37 Serial number 99292 with the older style firing pin on the hammer. It also has a G1 stamp by the seriel# on the inside of the swing arm.

On the barrel, right side it says AIRWEIGHT 38 SPL. CTG. It appear to be a pin fitted barrel too.

The grip is a Presentation Grip by Pachmayr.

I'm thinking it's a mid 80's but I'm not really sure. I was hoping somebody could tell anything about it.

Besides holster wear, the gun appears to be shot little, if at all. I just hope when I register it, it's on the up and up.

One other note. It has grooves on the face of the narrow trigger, I guess for grip.

Here's a photo of it.

Where do you live that you have to "register" it? I have to fill out 4473 for new stuff, Face to face or private sale, it is all mine when the green hits his palm, NQA.

I think it's a Clark County thing. I'll check into it further, but it would be nice to make sure it's not stolen. It was part of a trade for a Lap Top for $400.

$200 plus the gun.

Latest

New info.

I took that big old Pachmayr grip off, and found out it has a square butt, and the number (Not sure if it's the real serial#) on the bottom is 24J3XX.

And the Pachmayr fits nicely on my new S&W 638.

But the 638 grip fits the 37 like a thong. Kind of sexy, don't ya think?
