Stainless Colts

Years back didn't Colt sell some BP revolvers that were stainless steel? Were they well-made guns or a gimmick? How are they as shooters?

Let see some stainless 1860 Armys !

Both Pietta and Uberti make stainless 1858 Remmies.

Pietta aslo offers a .44 caliber "Navy".

They have a tacky engraved "sherrif's model"

That just ain't right. There never was such an animal

What I want is a stainless 1860 Army "sherrif's model" with the 5 1/2 inch barrel.

Come on Pietta and Uberti...I'd sure buy a couple of 'em !

Guess I'll have to learn some Italian...

Ciao,

Brent

Friend traded a Stainless Colt 51 for this Stainless Colt Army. Both are excellent shooters and he wishes he'd kept the Navy as they seem to have appreciated more.

I'll bet that he does. If it was a 2nd Gen. "Authentic Blackpowder" Colt Stainless '51 Navy, it was one of only 498. produced. They are almost too expensive to shoot any more, and go as collectible pieces for close to about $1000-$1100, if NIB, unturned cylinder, etc. They made about 1,200 of the 1860 Armies, so demand isn't quite so great, say about $600- $700. - Griswold
