cartridges/wildcats on 30-30

Any info on other cartridges based on 30-30 brass ala 243Win, 308Win, 358Win? I'm particularly curious about smaller calibers.

There are several including the ackley improved 30/30 of course witch shoots almost what a 308 does.The list Includes in 22 caliber, Donaldsons Wasp,22-30/30,219 Zipper 219 Zipper improved 22/30/30 improved,22 high power,and 22 high power imp. One to my knowledge in 6mm the 6mm/30/30 and a couple in 25 caliber 25/35 WCF,25/35 WCF imp.,and the 25/35 ICL coyote thats about all hope it helps you out.

There is also the 7-30 Waters, which is a particularly good cartridge. Then the .357 Herret, which is about a quarter inch shorter than a .30-30, once formed. This was a Contender chambering and used in IHMSA for years. It far outperforms a .357 Max. Wears on the shooter too.

A .30-30 AI chamber reamer into a .357 bore makes a nice full length ".357 Herret", that is the ballistic equivalent of the .35 Remington.

Of course, the .30-30 brass "family" (.506 rim dia) is what the .375 Winchester Big Bore was based on. The .38-55 is of that family also. So, there is a host of possibilities.

BTW, I wouldn't say the .30-30 AI is quite up to a .308, but it is a scooter. I have one in a NEF single shot. Very nice. Now a .30-40 Krag Imp or a .303 Brit Imp ... there's real competition for a .308!

Thanks for the input. I should have specified that I'm interested in redoing a Marlin 30-30 over to one of these cartridges.
I hadn't realized that both the Wasp and the Zipper were from the 30-30 family. I know Marlin used to chamber one of these two on their 336 rifle.

Was just discussing the power of a 30-40 Krag last night. I looked it up and it appears that the .308 beats it by 450 fps with a 150 grain bullet. The .308 also beats the .303 british by about 300 fps with a 150 grain bullet.

Two of the oldest are the .35/.30-30 and the .28/.25-35.

The .35/.30-30 was a shot-out .30-30 barrel rebored.

The .28/.25-35 was the same thing to salvage shot out .25-35 barrels. It wasn't nearly so successful, apparently because of a real lack of decent .28 caliber bullets.
