SmithWalther PPK recall -decocker

I have not seen this posted, so maybe it is not widely known.

My LGS called me to tell me of a SmithWalther PPK recall. This involves a decocker issue, which can lead to firing of the round in the chamber. I have no further info. But I DO have a phone number:

855.774.8527

You need your PPK's serial number, and the rep will tell you if the pistol is on the recall list.

And for the purist, I am using PPK to include PPK/s.

I don't know the range of S/Ns being recalled. My XXX3BAP was not on the list.

Im going to say this recall is not new. I think this recall started about Jan this year.

My LGS called me two days ago...the store is very reputable, and I got the sense that they just found out about the recall. The LGS guy who sold me my PPK said he was calling people he knew who had PPKs to let them know of the recall.

I called, and a Smith CSR answered, so this is as legit as I know it to be.

I cant possibly see how the decocker could allow a round to go off. Like the Beretta, when decocking the PPK the firing pin plunger is rotated up and away from the hammer, the hammer in no way could engage the firing pin when using the decocker.

And yet the original PP, P-38 and Ruger P-85 all had the same problem. It usually goes along with a broken firing pin, sometimes caused by the way the decocker works.

This is legit. I got a letter from S&W 2 days ago. Apparently lowering the hammer could cause a chambered round to fire. My pistol is not under the recall but this concerns pistols made from March 21, 2002 thru February 3, 2009. The serial # ranges are
