Will a bullet proof vest keep me warm in the winter?

I have a newbie question to ask here so dont flame me lol....

I was wondering if I bought a bullet proof vest that is light and small enough to wear underneath a long sleeve shirt and leather jacket, will it keep me warm enough in the winter months???

and also in the summer time will I be too hot?

It will also keep you permanently moist, with a locker-room aroma; since a vest doesn't "breathe", it's like wearing Saran Wrap.

Ok, thanks for your answers....

I was thinking of this in comparison to motorcycle riding jackets.....as some are made for warm weather use and other are used for colder weather

BTW, according to the inventor (Richard C. Davis), the proper term is "body armor."

I once went out on a night patrol last December as a gunner wearing only my body armor, helmet, regular uniform, and flight gloves. It was about 35 degrees or so and I was up exposed to the wind. Sure, I wasn't happy, but I wasn't hypothermic, either. It was a really cold night, though; all of the Iraqi Police officers who were supposed to be out manning checkpoints had gone home to stay warm.
