338-06 Reload Data
Need load data for Ruger Custom 338-06. Primarily
to be used for Elk. Will also take this rifle to the Arctic to hunt Caribou. Looking at using 210 Nosler Part. or 225 Accubonds |

Try the latest issue of the Hornady reloading manual. I'm pretty sure they have data. Probably not for the bullets you want, but it would be a starting point for experimentation.
I really have to wonder why the .338-06 hasn't gotten a lot more attention, or even a factory rifle berth. It's a great little cartridge.

I've used IMR 4350 and RE-19 with a 225 Hornady and a 250 Sierra BTSP with reasonable groups. 1.5 MOA or less.
My best accuracy has come from more moderate loads with IMR 4895 and the same two bullets, holding very close to 1 MOA out to 200 yards. My rifle, BTW, is an Encore with a Fox Ridge bull barrel. |
