Winchester 94ae magazine loose

Did a search and didn't turn anything up. I have a 94ae chambered in 44mag that I just love. Problem is that the magazine tube is getting very loose. I have checked the band and it is as tight as I am comfortable getting it. I'm sure I'm not the only one to experience this problem, and I'm sure there is a simple fix... it just hasn't come to me yet. Any advise is appreciated.

The alignment notch in the mag tube where the screw goes through is probably worn. You really want it to be a little loose but not sloppy loose.

.

In what way is it loose ?

If the slot in the magazine tube wall's not right, the tube can be removed & a new (but undersize) slot can be filed/cut into the opposite magazine wall.

If that's the option, I would suggest sliding the upside-down tube into place manually, so it can be marked or spotted (with a small drillbit) in place, to get correct positioning fwd/backward, in relation to the receiver face.

Its loose in that it moves back and forth under the barrel. It is starting to wear marks into the tube. About 0.20"
