1853 sharps help

Hi, my friend is looking for any info on his 1853 sharps carbine. He heard that its only 1 number off of one of the John brown sharps. I was hoping somebody here might have the book on sharps carbines and could possibly give me any useful information. I would really appreciate it. The serial number is 11681.
Thank you
Ryan

Welcome to TFL, Ryan ! .

I would suggest posting clear pics, with closeups of the stamping/markings, over on the ASSRA site, where many collectors hang their hat.

Also, your friend might glean some significant info from this book ($15 @ amazon.com) that has documents regarding the John Brown raid.
