410 ammo - for handguns only?
I have seen some ammo for 410 specifically branded for the Judge and handguns - does this mean it cannot be used in a standard 410 shotgun? Is there a difference with the case or lip?

They are SAAMI compliant .410-bore shotgun shells marketed to the Judge crowd. If they didn't work in .410-bore shotguns, the mfg's legal department would be going crazy.
Of course, that doesn't make them a good choice for a HD shotgun. A .410-bore load is a mouse compared to a 12-ga, but, it's a brute in a handgun. |

Agree with Zippy - if you are looking at the Judge for HD with shotgun ammo, you might want to rethink using the actual pistol ammo it was designed for - the 45LC and save the 410 for snakes/vermin. The rifled barrel will play havoc trying to get any type of pattern

Thanks. Just bought a Rossi 410/22 combo with wood stock for my 8 yo nephew and saw these rounds on sale. Figured I could save a couple of bucks!

410 shotgun
I have seen and heard a lot of flack regarding the .410. I bought my wife a youth Stoeger over under in .410 a couple years ago. She is very small and not comfortable racking the slide on my semiauto pistols and any other shotgun round would likely be too big for her. So far we both love it and it seems that it would have sufficient stopping power in the event she needed to use it.
I think the gun you got would be great for a first gun for someone. |
