Whatever you already have reloading dies for or whatever matches the ammo your six-shooters use. There's nothing like competing in cowboy action shooting and having to carry different ammo for each gun.
If you don't reload and you want to hunt deer with the gun, I would choose the .44 magnum. Factory loads are a lot more powerful than the .45 Colt and when you feel like just plinking, .44 special ammo should work. The only difference is the case is about 1/10 inch shorter. Depends on what you like, what you plan on doing with it and whether or not you handload. For the handloader, the .45Colt 1892 is a totally different animal. Capable of heavy loads that would reduce a large frame Ruger or Marlin 1894 to a useless heap. Think 260's@2000fps and 300's@1800fps. If you don't handload or already load for the .44Mag, it is entirely capable of flattening anything that walks or crawls. At least on this continent.

I reload but what about the cost, 44 magnum is by far more popular than 45LC it easier to find the components for it (bullets especially). Thanks.

If you reload component cost is not a big deal. There are plenty of choices for both. Your rifle might need some tuning if you want to run the heavies through it, over 300gr.

What Craig said. For a reloader the .45 Colt is much better than the .44 mag. and the Rossi 92 with it's double locking lugs is a stronger action than the 94 Winchester.
