Painted rifle stocks

Going to be doing one up soon, like to see some of your projects, and possibly some tips if you have them?

Rifle will be a savage stevens 200 in .223 for a throw around varmit gun.

Just received a shipment of Duracoat stuff from Lauer. Will post results when finished.

Has anyone else used this coating?

Most important thing to do is sand and draw the grain. this is done by sanding then steam the wood let dry and do this till the grain stays smooth. Dan

Here is a Mossberg 500 that was in rusty and in rough shape. I bought it for 20 dollars and painted it with Matte black Aluma Hyde II and Khaki Krylon.

has anyone used the DuraBake Enamel that comes in a Aerosol can? for 25 or so bucks, you cant beat that if its as easy as they make it sound. What have you guys expierenced?

for the prairie/grassland looking ones fresh LONG pine needles work the best for str8 natural lines

I just use spray paint from the hardware store

It's cheap and you can paint to suit your environment. If it gets scratched, you just touch it up with a shot of paint. For the pattern I use an exacto knife to cut out branch patterns on file folder or stiff target paper stock.

This 7 mag has a layer of texture paint applied, then the camo.
