Polishing a feed ramp

Good Afternoon,

So I have had some problem's with my Kimber STS UC II .45 not feeding properly so I did a little research and watched a few videos, I also had to pull out my old memories of polishing the Upper Plenum on my 1987 Vette.

I have to learn how to make the pictures smaller. Long story short, cleared gun, dis gun, polished briefly with a 220 grit rubber brush like thing, then went at it with a cotton polishing wheel, i have not had a chance to feed the gun at the range but I will up date once I do!

She only really had a problem with the Cor-Bon 185 +P's and those are a bit much for the gun and the hand with only three inches of barrel. I will get another box as soon as I can afford it!

It has been my experience that having a feed ramp that is as smooth as a baby's bottom is never a bad thing. All my auto pistols have benefited by a careful polishing and none fail to feed hollow points.

Sometimes, it's not the surface of the existing ramp that's the problem, but the width.
Extreme caution is needed though, in dealing with the ramp area.
It's important, to the extreme, not to change the break over angle of the barrel ramp and the very important relationship of the frame ramp to barrel ramp.
Assuming it's of the original design, and not a fully ramped barrel design.
But the caution about the break over is for both.
If in doubt, check with the info at M1911.org.
A buggered barrel can be replaced, but a buggered frame is a real pain.

All I took to the frame ramp was the cotton to polish it but was thinking about doing more thank you for the caution!
