Vz24 help needed

Trying to find year and caliber the side plate has vz24 on it . top of the receiver has ceskoslovenska zbrojouka =brno=. Ser#5914 k1. Also has e(lion) 26. Or 2b Thank you.

It could be still in it's original caliber of 7mm or it could be 8mm. The 26 is the year of manufacture, 1926. Pictures would help.

It is 8x57js or 8mm Mauser, different names for the same cartridge.

just incase you didn't already know it's a czechoslovakian mauser made in the city of BRNO... to my knowledge all VZ24s were 8mm mauser/8x57/7.92mm... the names for 8 mauser are endless.

There are original models floating around in 7mm. If it's import marked it should say on the barrel what caliber it is in. Please check carefully before trying to shoot it.

Correct. My error. Some in Brazil were also converted to .30-'06 as well.

Still, the vast majority were in 8x57 so the odds are it is in that caliber.

And mine is in 8mm, but one of the distributors was selling these in original 7mm not long ago. I just figure if it's not marked, you need to check.
