9mm data using Clays?
I am down to less than 2 lbs of Titegroup and I want to try out some Clays in the 9mm. I am not finding much load data in my manuals with this combination. One forum search yielded 3.6gr of Clays under a 115gr FMJ load. Hodgon has 2.9gr-3.3gr with a 125gr LCN and 3.5gr-3.7gr with 125gr SIE FMJ (whatever that is) on their website. The starting and maximum window is very narrow and has me a little concerned about simply guessing because no OAL's were listed.
I have the following bullets in inventory: Remmington 124gr JHP's Hornady 124gr TMJ's (currently my primary) Hornady 147gr XTP's (may be a no go w/ Clays) I just need a good, safe target load with OAL's. No PF's required. |

Only info I have is,3.1-3.6 clays for 125gr jhp,oal 1.075.130gr fmj,2.5-3.6 clays, oal 1.160.this is from lymans.I've loaded a bunch of 124 gr fmj zero bullets at 1.115 oal with 3.1-3.6 with no problems.Hodgon only shows 3.7 as the max with 125gr fmj at oal 1.090.
Try some power pistol or unique,it's my favorites in 9mm. |

1.135", start at 3.4 with the 124's. Same OAL with the 147's, start at 2.8 and work up. Don't go over 3.8 with the 124's, and don't go over 3.2 with the 147's.
I have shot plenty of these loads with no problems at all. Hodgdon data has VERY short OAL's, I load a bit longer and the max charge will increase accordingly. As always check your manuals, start low and be safe. |

I load 115gr win fmj hollow base bullets, over 3.6gr clays, 1.155oal, gives me 1050 on the chrono. Hodgdon list 3.7 as max, with a 125gr fmj. I load to factory ammo oal, or really close.
