Explanation of cocking methods for revolvers

Is there somewhere that I can see or read a better description of the two cocking methods for Timed and Rapid, that are described in the NRA Handbook No 4, "Pistol Marksmanship?" There are no local competitions to go watch in my area. This is just for "self paced, shooting against myself" Bullseye shooting with revolver and not surprising to any of you Bullseye shooters out there, this is a declining recreation with too few texts on the subject or competitions being held.
Thanks,
Ed
