Millett LRS-1 6-25x56 vs. Nikon 6-24x50
Good morning all,
I have a question regarding optics. I have a Savage Model 12 BTCSS in .223 I shoot mostly 200 yards punching paper, but may try some prairie dog shooting in 2010. Also thinking of some informal Benchrest 100 and 200 yard matches. The two scopes in question: (1) Millett LRS-1 6-25x56 (BK81006) $459.00 (2) Nikon 6-24x50 (8427) $480.89 Similar price, similar magnification. Anyone have any input as to image quality, zero holding, quality of build (by comparison), warranty, etc? Thanks, Rich |

Can't say never looked at either scope. But I do know Nikon has been making optic's for manny years and their quality is first class.

I have heard and read ( on www.swfa.com 's Optic Talk) that the Nikon scopes are not very tough though the glass is good. What might comfirm this is all the Nikon "refurbished" scopes that Natchez Shooters Supply has been selling for almost a year now. It is the only scope that has so many models being sold a "refurbished". It is also the only scope I have owned that lost the ablility to hold settings - an older 4x12x40 AO.

having had both stay away from the Millett, I have been nothing but disappointed with their products.
The Nikon you listed is not a tank, correct, however the glass is far superior to the Millett. |
