Question on selling value of Pietta Pistol set

I know yall probably get these questions alot but I searched and did not find anything.

I was given a set of Pietta pistols. They are 44 caliber and are nicely engraved. The case states 1 of 5000. I assumed that means 1 of 5000 pairs.

The the small plaque on the case states Buffalo Hunter 1 of 5000.

They look unfired but have some marks on the cylinder from being rotated.

I will get some better pictures tomorrow as the battery in my good camera was dead.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

edit on the plaque.... it says "Buffalo Hunter Limited Editon of 5000"

The Blue Book of Modern Black Powder Arms (Fifth Edition, 2007) does not list any Pietta special editions, such as a '1 in 5000' set you have. It's probable that the sets were assembled by a distributor, perhaps using a large consignment from Pietta.

The 1858 Remington Buffalo model is listed on page 155 of the Blue Book; it values a single gun in 100% condition at $260 for the steel frame model and $135 for the brass frame model.

Values in the Blue Book are only a guide. Actual prices can and do vary considerably in either direction.

I wonder if that set came from The Sportman's Guide? IIRC, they once sold a similar set.
Even if the set was sold on clearance for $280 years ago, the value may have increased since then. Right now, The Guide sells a single Traditions/Pietta 1858 Bison with an adjustable target sight & walnut grips for $230 each ($207 for club members).

My set is exactly like this with consecutive numbers.

One more question. Do black powder's have to be shipped to an FFL??

They do not have to go through an FFL.

It depends on where you live if they need an FFL or not. For example, in New Jersey and Canada, they do....
