I didn't vote since I prefer two:

Federal and Remington for pistol.

Should add WOLF to your options. No, I haven't used any Wolf, just that some folks say they go bang, too.

I use CCI. Lousy reason... as a first-time reloader, I walked in to the gun store and asked for small pistol primers. They gave me CCI 500, small pistol primers. $9 for a thousand.

So I worked up loads with CCI small pistol primers. So when I ran low, I bought more. When I started rifle, I grabbed CCI small rifle, why not. CCI large pistol when I started 10mm, then .45. CCI large rifle when I began 8x57.

It's not a good reason, but it's a reason. I just bought a thousand large pistol yesterday... $30. More than I wanted to pay, but I had to do a double take when I actually saw them on the shelf.

Primers

Winchester are what are most common here so that is what I started with and since I have not had any trouble with them I have stayed with them.I did luck up awhile back and found a pawnshop that carried reloading supplies. When they stopped and put it all on sale very cheap I bought up all the primers they had.CCI's were what they carried but have not tried any as yet.

You cant answer that question. Each loading may require differant primer. One primer (brand) does not fit all loadings. Or even fit differant purposes.

I did not vote either. After using Winchester primers for loading both large and small rifles and pistols for roughly 10 years, I'm switching over to Fed's to fill all my primer pockets. I liked the large rifle "match" primers (though now they're impossible to find) so I thought I'd do a change-over to all Fed. I have no other rational reason.

I used to swear by Winchesters and actually still do. With the reduced cost and same reliability of the Wolf Primers I have now switched over to those and have had excellent results with them.

I have used CCI, Winchester, and Remington and had no problems with any of them. I am now giving Wolf a try. I use what I can get ahold of, though if given a choice I pick CCI.

I have Win., CCI Federal and Remington in my stash, but I prefer the CCI if I can get them. These days I get whatever I can find as most of the places around here are out of just about everything.

Winchester is the cheapest that I can buy locally, and so far they have been flawless for me. I would like to try the wolf primers, I just havent wanted to bad enough to order them online. When they were 19/1000 I almost did it, but chickened out.

The cheap ones....

(With CCI having being a little less desireable due to a much higher percentage of burrs that cause the primer to try flipping or seating sideways.)

One of these days I'll put in a massive order of Wolf primers, and not have to worry about switching primers in established loads.

CCI for everything because they're reliable. I started with them, never had a bad one, they always work. If I can't find CCI I will buy a few Winchesters to tide me over. Federals are too soft. Never tried Remington.

Primers...

For target pistol, whatever comes to hand. There honestly seems to be no difference.

For shotgun primers, use strictly what the recipe calls for--there, there IS a difference!

For rifle primers, my best loads are with CCI Benchrest primers.

I will try anything, ANYTHING, except the Federal primers in those gol-durn huge boxes!!!

I usually seem to end up with Winchester, and they do work well, but they're too hard to be consistently busted by my revolver, so for the latter I buy Federal. Federal primers seem to be in short supply, like a lot of gun stuff, but if had to use one brand for everything, it would be Federal, if only so I didn't have to keep a separate supply for the revo.

I agree that CCI's QC leaves much to be desired. Therefore Federals are what I use in match loads. Since I can order in bulk and get a very nice discount if I order all the same brand, I also use Federals in my plinking and handgun loads.

Federals - they're soft enough for my lightened revolvers and consistent enough for match ammo.

Federals

They are softer than Winchesters and work in all my 45's especially my G21. It would not light off Winchesters with 100% results.

Right now it is hard to find primers here online and locally. My range has a 1 box limit. I voted it doesn't matter. I basically use Wolf because they are cheeper. Never had a problem. When I am unable to get them I have used CCI, Federal and Winchester. They have all gone bang when I pulled the trigger.

Winchester, they just 'feel' better in my Lee hand primer and all have gone 'bang'. I has a few CCI not light off, even after repeated strikes.

I voted CCI but I use all of them. For the broadest application I think CCI is probably the best. In other words if I could only have one brand I would pick CCI.

Winchester for most everything

I do like CCI regulars in .223 competition loads, but only because the particular load works with them and no others.
