Steyr Model 1886 Bolt Action Kropatschek Rifle shells
Need help with ammo I have some old ammo with no clear markings on it, just some marks on the base of the shells
48 c f p 2 The numbers actually lay on the perimter and thus are marked in the same direction as the letters (on thier sides as viewed head on) the primer is in the center of the shell (centerfire). It is from an 1886 Steyr and the rifle is firing 8mm ammo 8x60R I think... any help with the markings would be great as if the ammo is wrong.... well I shoot this thing and I have a high misfire rate with the ammo and would like to find new stuff |

If no one else chimes in, you'll have to wait a few days until I can get back to my reference books.

Try this site:
http://shootersforum.com/showthread.htm?t=25907 There is some info on making the cases. BTW, mike those cases and get the right case length; my info says it should be 8x56R and that site says the same thing. Jim |
