Marlin Mod 60 ammo

Marlin does not recommend them, as
feeding will not be reliable and damage

I obviously shoot LR out of my plinker. I am wondering if anyone has shot anything else out of their Marlin with any good effect? LR is getting so difficult to get my hands on.

Don't chance your life. Wait till this liberal nonsense blows over, then .22 ammo will be easy to find. Also if you go to Walmart at about 7 in the morning you can find a few boxes. They are only allowed to order 3 boxes of each type of ammo a day right now. Give it about 6 months to blow over!

The warnings are no doubt due to the possibility that those cartridges might not feed properly in a semi-auto, and might get jammed somewhere in the gun.
Since they are rimfires, just about anything that hits the back of the rounds could set them off, whether they are in the chamber or not.
Loading them one at a time, by hand, should be ok, though.

Shorts, and longs will shoot safely, but consider the gun a single shot as it will probably not cycle them. You will probably also have to give the chamber a good cleaning after or you may have trouble getting LR ammo to chamber if a lot of the shorter ammo is used.

Some of the hyper velocity ammo uses a slightly longer case, but a lighter, shorter bullet so the overall length is the same. Some guns with sloppy chambers will shoot these just fine, others with closer tolerences will not shoot them, and you should check the owners manual. Chamber pressure could be higher than normal, but I seriously doubt it could be enough to create a dangerous situation.
