Off hunting...

Today's the day. I'm up o the mountains later in the afternoon for a weekend of chasing wapiti.

It's a warm up for the week long trip coming up soon.

I can't wait.

Have a good weekend.

Leaving on Friday 10/19

We're going Friday for the second season 10/20 thru 10/26! Everything is packed, 'cept for the food.

Chime in for Colorado elk reports

Went the first season 10/13-17 - back the 17th with 2 of 3 tags filled.

Both to handloaded .308 Win 165 gr Barnes XBTs at 2400 fps. One at ~25 yds & another at 100 yds - lung shots both & never expect to recover a single Barnes. I'm likin' this bullet so far.

Helpful hint = don't have an elk die in a creek. Having cold water handy to wash it & you off is nice, but at 35 deg, it does get cold after 1/2 hour standing in it.

Weather was downright warmish (except for while in the creek).

Labgrade, that creek thing is an excellent suggestion.

Suggestion!?

Hardly. Just never happened before & I don't recommend it. Maybe by a creek, but certainly not in one.

Didn't even have my paddle.
