Glock 28/25 U.S. sale ban

I know they're not available in the U.S. (Glock .380, either model). I'm curious what import requirements were not met by this gun.. I ready they don't " lack sufficient BATF import points." Any idea what those are specifically?

Specifically, the caliber is too small. Glocks barely make enough points as it is. All of them are shipped into this county with adjustable sights (worth more points than fixed sights) which are switched out after they get here. The compact and subcompact models also have serrated triggers (counted as target triggers and worth more points) to make up for points lost due to their short barrels. There's just not any more tricks left that Glock can use to make up for the points lost due to the small caliber of the Glock 25 and 28.

There is no ban on the sale or possession, ONLY on the import.

Here's a breakdown of the point system.

Yet another reason to relegate BATFE back to their original purpose: To collect taxes on booze, cigarettes and guns and nothing else.

You're asking for a rational explanation for an irrational, bureaucratic decision. Ain't gonna happen! (smile)

At least it's not much of a loss anyhow. Why would you want a .380 that's the same size and capacity as a 9x19?

With the current .380 craze, Glock has an incentive to build them here. Has anyone posted pictures of the US prototypes?

I've said that before, and recently.

It doesn't matter if it doesn't make a heap of sense.

If it says GLOCK and it's chambered in .380, it would be a cash cow. Seriously.

Glock might eventually build them here, but both the 25 & 28 are pretty large as far as .380 pistols go. The current .380 craze is fueled primarily by the availability of relatively low-cost and very tiny .380 pistols. I would think that the Glock .380 pistols (in their current configurations) would be slow sellers.

Glock could legally import complete .380 uppers, which would, of course, fit nicely on their 9mm counterpart lowers. However, I guess they won't import just uppers, in order not to urinate-off those idiots @ the BATFE.
