Problem With Depriming .44 Magnum With Lee Carbide Die....

I am having problems with depriming my brass........I deprimed about 50 everything was running smoothly. I then tried to deprime a few more and it would not deprime them. It was "encasing" the whole bullet but the primer was not coming out. I tried to use the die in the single stage lee press and the progressive press, neither one of them worked.

I am new to reloading, any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Look to make sure the decaping pin is not broken. If the pin is fine, you may have to lower the decaping rod by loosing the retaining nut...the instructions with the dies should show you how. The decaping pin should protrude about 1/4" from the bottom of the die.

The decapping pin can move up. Then it's not going deep enough. I've had this happen too. As above just lower the pin.

I hope you mean it was "encasing" the whole case. If there was a bullet in the mix, it could cause serious problems.

As already mentioned, you need to check the insruction that came with your die. The decapping pin is either broken, or slipped in the lock nut.

Ya gotta really crank down on that nut on top to keep the decap pin from sliding up. It's a good thing to have. I broke a decap pin in another brand of die because there was still some walnut shell stuck in the bottom of a 223 case.
