230gr 45acp
I can't seem to find any load data for the 230gr.FMJHP. And wanted to know if it would be OK to use the same load data as for the 230gr fmj non HP? Winchester brand bullet's.

Yep, 230 grain load data will work just fine for FMJ or the HP.
You may need to adjust the OAL, for best feeding in your gun, but as far as pressure is concerned, a 230 is a 230 regardless of profile. Not necessarily true when you get into higher pressure rifle cartridges, but for the 45 ACP you do not have to worry about the bullet profile. |

The shape of the point is no small factor IMO. Traditional 230 FMJs have a rounded tip so the OAL will be longer than a flat point or a HP. Keep in mind that the 230 grains has to be somewhere. If it is not in the tip, and not in the hollowed out portion, it will be shoved into your case and taking up space. And of course we know that less space results in higher pressures and therefor requires less propellant to maintain consistent pressure levels. So take seriously the different OAL and load lighter and work up...probably avoiding max loads listed for the 230 FMJ.

We have a winner with #5. But the other guys are (mostly) right too. 45acp is such a low pressure round that it would take a real max load and some real bad luck in the variables to get you into trouble. But it could happen!
