Mossberg 590 with wood?

I was just wondering if any other Mossberg 590 owners out there have swapped out their plastic stocks and replaced them with wood? I am contemplating this change and would like to see a photo or two if anyone out there has one to share. Thanks!

I kinda tried to answer that in another thread. Most Mossberg guns are not worth restocking simply because the cost is almost more than their value. Trade it in on what you want unless you love the gun and don't care what it costs to have a wood stock. I don't mean to be rude, just practical. Best of luck.

I didn't buy a 590A1 for it to be pretty. I bought it because it is tougher than hell and good at putting big holes in things. Buy an older engraved scattergun with wood that can be shined up. Have fun.

You could possibly trade it for an older mossberg 500. Thats what my dad has and it has a walnut stock. Im pretty sure it came with the stock. I think it looks better than the new ones with the plain hardwood looking stocks. Its a good gun and its built like a tank.

Rent the dvd Dead Presidents, during the Vietnam scenes you can see the main charecter use a 590 with wood furnature from the 500 American Field Grade. Actually for a long time thought it might have been a 590 that came that way for some small contract that specified wood, but am sure it was something like they couldn't for some reason get ahold of an actual old school wood-stocked trench gun like a Model 12 during filming so threw this together to look more period appropriate.
It's a pretty good movie anyway, a heist flick. Really makes you think about what we owe our vets, and definately what the government does. The war portion is the best part but isn't that long, it's really graphic (you'll never look at Christopher from the Sopranos the same) Check it out, seeing it in action is a hell of a lot better than a photo. IMO doesn't look bad, also I'm not crazy about corncob forearms so in that way for me would be an improvement. Like I said also, I did wonder if this was a special issued model also, so I guess it doesn't look that out of place. See it in the movie that will be a preview of what you'll have.

I did not buy a 590 to be pretty, but I did want to see what it looked like with wood in place of the plastic furniture. In case anyone else wonders, I have taken a photo.

Thanks for the opinions guys. I too like it, but the only problem is that the stock set I used belongs to a friend. We simply swapped them out so I could see what it looked like and to take a photo to share with others, as well as to get opinions. I am on the hunt now for a set of my own. To answer the question, yes the stock set came off of a Mossberg 500.

Wood is nice, but the 4 round speedstock can be more usefull in certain situations..
