Any Texas hog hunters out there. I am looking forward to a 2001 Javelina hunt to bring back some pork chops. Where do you all hunt? I am going down to south Texas see relatives in the fall/winter and would like to know of some decent public lands where a fat one can be had.I think I remember reading that there is a current overpopulation of these in Texas/regions of Texas?

Texas is very limited for public-access lands. And, "south Texas" takes in territory from Cuero to Laredo and points south...

Anyhow, Parks & Wildlife can give you info about public-access lands. Your relatives might know of some private ranches.

Pork chops? Javelina hams are absolutely wonderful when carefully barbecued, but they won't weigh over four or five pounds each.

But real, real tasty.
