Refinished Yugo Mauser (w/ PICS!)
This was an old M24 Yugo I had gotten from a friend. It definitely needed a bit of a face lift, and refinished it in Duracoat titanium. I'm sure some look at it as a sin to refinish a gun like this, but it's just for my own enjoyment, not to resell or anything like that. Needs a new stock as well, since the one it came with was cracked and definitely not salvageable, but one thing at a time
Anyway, on to the fun part;

Nice work. Old Mausers were meant to be used, enjoyed, and shot a lot. Some are museum-quality wall-hangers, but most are just plain fun. What kind of clothing ya got planned for her?

One of the Boyd's Monte Carlo stocks. Planning on getting one of the unfinished ones and staining it cherry, I think it'll look nice with the titanium finish.

Yes, that should be a nice complement. Did you do any sight work or are you sticking with the battle sights? I have a Swede that I changed the sights on and use as a plinker and they are a vast improvement.

So far just sticking with the battle sights. But I'm open to suggestions

You could try one of those scout-scope mounts that mounts onto the rear battle sight, that way you could always return it to original if you didn't like it. You need a long-eye-relief scope, but anything that is good for a Cooper Scout-type rifle would work.

Huh...I actually wanted to put a scope on. This would save me the hassle of trying to get it tapped & drilled. Thanks for the tip!

Dude, you have been busy. First the remington & now a mauser !!!!!
Atta-boy----i advise dropping the yugo mauser in a bell & carlson carbalite stock, then refinish the black stock as desired. Congrats again on the home-brew work you do. Guru1911

Aside from actual machining work, I like to do everything at home. I'll look into that stock; I like options, lol.

I am one of those that generally likes to keep old mil. guns original, but I have sporterized some. It sounds as though yours was in bad shape, and I am all for turning them into a good sporter. It looks very nice!

It came as a 'match set' so to speak, so I probably should have posted pics of the other one to show what they started off as, lol. But, yeah, really not worth saving much of the original finish or furniture. Spent pretty much an entire evening with each cleaning off gunk, grease, and rust. And the original stocks probably would have fallen apart after the first shot
