mounted shooting loads

Can anyone out there give me a suggestion for loading mounted shooting blanks in 45LC? Is it even possible? How do you crimp the brass? What is a good mix of black powder and crushed walnut shells? Is there any data out there for these types of loads? At 37 cents a round for commercial made blanks seems a little pricey. Thought I might be able to save a little by reloading my own for practice. Any suggestions would be great.

How about wax? You drop in your black powder, drop in filler like cornmeal or farina (preferably rancid since you shouldn't waste food) and then secure it with wax like Bill Jordan shows in his book, "No Second Place Winner."

I think Jordan used a loading block (drilled out piece of wood) that held the cartridges. The wax was held up vertically (as in against the wall) and the loading block with cartridges pushed against the wax. The cartridges would cut into the wax and leave a neat set of holes in the wax. When the loading block was removed, all fifty cartidges would be sealed. Neat lesson from an old timey gun writer, shooter, LEO. RIP Bill Jordan.

melt the wax into a flat shallow pan put the cartriges in a block and press the wax down over the cartriges. do not let the melted wax get near a flame and dont melt it around open powder.
