Need Marlin 336 info
I have an old Marlin that had been my Grampa's, my uncle that gave it to me said he thought they bought it in 1949. If anyone can tell me more about this gun it would be greatly appreciated.I have a blue book on gun values, it says they made them from 1948 - 1968. One thing I was wondering was how many would they make in one year ? Are there any good Marlin history books with serial # charts & such ?
The gun is : Marlin model 336- s.c. 30-30 barrel is approx. 20 " serial # K 4xxx Thanks, Blue Hornet |

Model 336SC (SC=Sporting Carbine) was similar to the 336A, except it had the 20 in. bbl you listed in your msg instead of a 24 the 336A had. They were made from 49-63. Original cost in 49 was @ $61 and in 63 it was @ $87. Yours was made in 1953. For a good book, get the one by Brophy on Marlin Firearms. HTH

Your welcome. You might be in for some sticker shock on the book. It'll be in the 75 dollar range. At a gun show you might get a break of about 10% or so. Regardless, the book covers Marlin Firearms in detail.
