First buck of the year
I have been waiting patiently all year, I've passed on a lot of smaller bucks all through bow season, gun season and black powder season. I killed this one this morning.
He got within 15 yards of me and I couldn't get a shot off, as he was coming head on. He spooked at about 12 yards and ran left to right across my front, I grunted to get him to stop in an opening. When I grunted he really started hauling the mail, this time straight away, and downhill from me. He stopped about 55 yards away, with his whole body hidden behind a tree. When he turned his head back toward me to check the wind he exposed his neck, and I hammered him. 1 shot with a 150 grain ballistic tip from my 7mm Mag. He didn't take one more step. |

I'm sure glad the deer 'round these parts aren't as well armed as this guy was.

Holy moly, that deer is huge.
Makes the 8 pointer I killed last week look puny in comparison. I live to kill a deer with a rack that big. Someday...someday...
