Just bought a Remington 870 express and would like to put a 18" barrel on it for the home defense role. Can anybody recommend a place that sells them at a good price. It doesnt have to be a Remington barrel. What is a good price for a Remington and aftermarket barrel?
Thanks, Chris |

Gotta a hacksaw? I once cut 9" off an old single shot with a pipecutter and a rat-tailed file to clean off the burr on the inside. Looked professional. If you want to keep the original barrel intact, you should be able to pick up an old junker at a gun show for little or nothing. A straight barrel (no vent rib) makes it alot easier.

Sometimes ya get lucky. depending on where you are, this time of year (after deer season) stuff like this is on clearance at places like WalMart. (yeah, I know about the other thread)
last year I bought 3 870 slug barrels with rifle sights, one with choke tube, for 29.95 each! kept one, traded the others off at gun show. THAT, my friends, is how you deal with the Wal Martians! |

Funny,,allof mossbergs shotgun barrels are made by Remington! So the quality must be the same.
Several years ago I got a tour of the Remington plant in Ilion NY while attending their shotgun school. Saw a lot of different guns and gun parts being made, including tons of revolver frames and shotgun barels for several makes. I guess gunmakers are like auto manufacturers, your engine comes from Germany, the transmission from Japan, the radio from Taiwan etc (like my first Ford Explorer). The VP escorting us told me they make all of mossbergs shotgun barrels, even got to watch the robots make barrels. Interesting tour if you are in the area or attend their school. My $.02 Geoff Ross |
