I am looking for an affordable scope for my AR. Most of my shooting buddies are using leopuld and burris scopes, but I just can't justify shelling out $500+ for a scope right now.
I can get a BSA platinum 8-32x44mm A/O scope for the dealer price of $155.

I can also get a BSA contender 8-32x50mm A/O scope for $118.

Has anyone tried either of these scopes, or know of another affordable option?

I will be using this AR for "bench rest shooting. Basically we put clay pigeons out on the 300 and 400 yd ranges. W/ my friends 6-24x burris and Colt R6700, I can hit 9 out of 10 at 300yds.

How much am I going to lose going w/ the cheapie scope?

Try Bushnell for an inexpensive scope.

Try Simmons. Their optics are just as clear as the big boys, and you can usually get discounted 44 MAG scopes through "the sportsmans guide". I'm one of those guys who refuses to pay double the price for the last 5% of performance from a Leupold,Burris or Nikon. I like to spend about $100-$150 on a scope. Also, try the Simmons Aetec if you can find them cheap-their aspherical lens is probably better than anything the expensive manufacturers produce. I had a Simmons on my AR for about 2 years.

Just bought a Simmons for my Enfield Quest rifle. Well pleased with what I got and for what I spent. Take a look under the links page here. I bought this from S.W.F.A. Inc.
They were real nice to deal with and shipped my order promply. They have plenty of other scopes listed to choose from.
Hope this helps
Happy Shooting
