Favorite 7mm Rem Mag Loads

I just kind of wanted to see what everyone else's favorite 7mm rem mag loads were. I'll start. I shoot a Remington 700 BDL.

Win Brass
Hornady Interlock 139gr BTSP
IMR4350 57gr (I know it's light but works great in my rifle)
CCI LRMP
OAL 3.290

I get consistent groups from .500"-.600" at 100yds with the above load.

I know I have a dozen or so boxes of different brands and weights of 7mm projectiles. I've tried many of them on coyotes, hogs, javelina and White-tail deer over the years, but I really like the 160 grain Nosler Partition, its my favorite. It works well on everything I've shot and probably would work even on Elk, but I've never shot one with it, so thats only a guess.

My current 7mm Rem Mag is a Sako 75 Stainless Synthetic. I load 63.5 grains of H4631SC and CCI Magnum primer, with the 160 grain Nosler Partition. I believe my ready to go hunting rounds are in Norma brass, although I also have Win, Rem and Federal too.

Accuracy is sub-MOA, but I don't worry about tiny groups much in a hunting rifle. As long as every time I verify the scope is still in adjustment, the first two shots are within an 1.5" of each other at 100 yards I'm happy. Usually both shots are nearly touching each other. I quit shooting after that. I've never had to shoot anything twice with a 160 grain Nosler Partition and don't expect to ever have to either. If I do need a second shot, it'll be right there though, just in case.

Have a Rem 700 in this caliber...I don't hunt and regular ammo was getting too costly to shoot much so I tried cast bullets. This caliber is notoriously difficult with cast..so I was warned. The Lee 125 and the RCBS 168 grain with Unique powder loaded to about 1,700 FPS. After some trial and error I was popping a 4" steel plate at 200...then 250..then 350 yards regularily with it. I found that the 168 grain bullett was a bit more accurate, but I stayed with the Lee 125 grainer using 15.0 of Promo...finally I had a load that was as good as with the heavier bullet.

I use Std primers and make my own aluminum GC's & bullet Lube. The key is to seat the bullets out long to engage the leade, when chambered. I also load single shot style to get the optimum alignment.

Lots of fun clanging steel with this load..easy on the rifle, shoulder, & your pocketbook....also doesn't damage the steel plate as a jacketed bullet will do.

150 gr. Nosler Ballistic Tips

*I don't remember what powder charge of H1000 I used as I'm away from my loading bench, so I'm not going to put out incorrect numbers for your safety. I did have very very good accuracy with H1000 and it burned very clean. Had horrible luck with IMR7828ssc. It was sporadic and incredibly dirty, leaving powder residue all inside the barrel.

65.0 grains of Reloader 22 behind a 160 grain Nosler Accubond. My friends and I have killed 21 moose with that load as well as numerous deer. The only reason we haven't used it on elk is that we bowhunt for them.

As you all know my 7mm rem mag is my favorite to handload for.
I have four handloads for mine featuring Nosler bullets.
The first is a 3/4 moa load withw the 140 grn Accubond using Hornady brass, CCI 250 primer and IMR 4831.Next is the 150 gr Partition same brass and primer and using IMR 4350. I also use the 150 ballistic tip with IMR 4831. And last but best my 160 grn Accubond load, only I use IMR 7828.
All these loads shoot alot les than MOA at 100yds.

That was my second coyote with this rifle. The first was min. load of IMR 4064 and 120gr Nosler Ballistic Tip. Took him down at 250yards. This is an excellent 7mm-08 performance equivalent load. Very accurate.

I have a history with powders and bullets with the 7mmRemMag.
I have built (4) 7mmRM and have (1) factory 7mmRM.
They all act the same, unless you have a 180 gr bullet and then it may matter if I have a 9", 9,25" or 9.5" twist.

I am now using H4350 and 130, 140, and 150 gr Nolser Ballistic tips.

No more TSX, VLD, SST, Re22, or H4381sc
