Glock conversion barrel question

I'm going to get a 9mm conversion barrel for one of my G23s. Looking at Storm Lake and Lone Wolf. The Lone Wolf is much cheaper than the Storm Lake. Which would you recommend? I don't mind paying more if it's justified.

Also, would I need to get a different recoil spring?

Thanks

I don't have any experience with the Storm Lake 40-9 conversion but I can speak for the Lone Wolf. I have a few thousand rounds of 9mm reloads through my G23 without a hickup. I'm using the stock recoil spring as well.

Since I'm only using the conversion for range use I bought the cheap KCI G17 mags. No issue with those either!

Ive got a LW 40-9 barrel in my G 35. Runs all the stock parts except mags. Works perfectly.

I hear that the Storm Lake barrels hold tighter tolerances. Cant say, but my LW barrel works 100% and shoots at least as good as i do

I went ahead and got some correct for caliber mags. The 40mags will hold 9mm ammo but it seems like a pretty precarious hold.

For the price of some 9mm mags i got a system that works perfectly. You could try running your G23 mags with the conversion and see what happens. I just went ahead and got some G17's and run those in my 35

I had a LWD 40-9 for my 31, and it had thousands of rounds through it without any issues. I used my 17 mags instead of the 31's 357SIG mags.

Ive seen some of the complaints posted about LWD, but have yet to encounter any problems with mine. I have two of their threaded barrels as well, and they all have been 100%.

Ill also second the KCI/KAHN Korean mags. Great for practice mags, and at this point, I wouldnt have an issue using them in a carry gun either.

I have a LW 40/9 conversation barrel for my G35. No issues and 3 of my four 40 mags feed the 9mm's without issue.

Thats what i worried about with the wider feed lips. 9mm mags are cheap enough

Thanks for the info. I was planning on getting 9mm mags for the conversion setup anyway.

Lone Wolf also has a rather nifty Glock-variant Timberwolf frame, and some wicked cool slides,
so if you find yourself needing to make a second pistol,
building your own tricked-out Glockity becomes a reasonable option

My experience was limited to a 40-9 conversion Lone Wolf barrel for the Glock 35. Mine was accurate and generally reliable. I've been told that the Lone Wolf (perhaps because of the tighter tolerances others have mentioned) likes slightly hotter rounds than some of the other conversion barrels. I don't handload, and tend to shoot a lot of ball ammo.

I sometimes had incomplete chambering with some 9mm rounds -- had to bump the slide to close it; had I bothered to use a 9mm recoil springs or 9mm mags, it might've behaved differently. I've got another 35, now, and am thinking about another conversion barrel. I may try a KKM or EFK Fire Dragon. (Have one of those for a BHP and it's been outstanding -- but hear all sorts of complaints from others about EFK FD.)
