savage 110 problems

I have a quick question. I just bought a new savage 110 30'06 with synthetic stock. I took the stock off last night to clean/lube it for sighting in and when I put the stock back on, it doesn't seem to fit tight in the rear where the safety is. there is about a 1/8 inch gap between the safety area and the stock. I've taken it off and put it back on over and over, and still have the same problem. I just wonder if it was like that when I bought it. I appreciate your help.

That's odd.

That's a bit odd.
The rifle I learned to hunt with was my dad's Savage 110 weather warrior in .270. The fit and finish is very nice, and not ever had any problems with stock/reciever inlet.
Might have come like that, but maybe have the shop/dealer look at it, just in case.
