Shout out for Midway USA.

So we all like to bitch when a company does bad, but I thought I would take this time to give recognition to a company that I recently had a great experience with. I ordered a Vortex Viper PST from Midway USA on Sunday night and it was sitting on my porch when I got home Wednesday. You cant beat service like that. Also UPS deserves some credit also.

Ordered 6.8 mags, scope rings and a tomahawk (that's right a tomahawk), shipping cost is $0, that's right nada, zilch, zero. Ordered on 2 Feb arrived today. Mags were 14.50 and 19.99. Not inflated price. Yes, Midway gets a lot of my business.

They always get stuff to me quickly as well, even with economy shipping. I like doing business with them.

I have ordered from them many times in the past. Always great service. One of the best catalogs out there.

I still can't stand MidwayUSA for their policy on handgun ammo and NJ... and more so that they never setup a system to download a FID card to allow sales. That has been going on for almost five years. In regards to [all] ammo, Brownells, Cabelas, and others that will ship to me will get my business (even AIM Surplus will sell to NJ with your FID on file).

Still an ok company... being I saved a few dollars on an order due to my birthday coming up.

Midway is a great company to buy from. Prices are competitive, they fill the orders in a timely manner, and shipping is quick.

My only complaint is they charge 2 hazmat fees if you order primers and powder together. I normally try to combine powder and primers in one large order to spread the hazmat fee. Other than powder and primers, I usually buy from Midway.

When it comes to service, Midway is right up there with Brownell's in my book.
They do offer dealer pricing if you have a C&R, but even with that, I find I always need to price check them. I find many of their items are not as competitive as they used to be.

I also ordered a reloader with dies from midway. Ordered on a Thursday afternoon at about 1 pm. Everything arrived on my doorstep Friday around 10 am! Less than 24 hours! Although I do just live a state away, it was still very surprising.

Hell Kimbers are made in NY and as far as I know they won't sell them in NY. I don't blame some company's for not wanting to sell to states with BS gun laws all it will take is for some jack ass to use it in a crime and then next thing you know that state is bringing a lawsuit against them for selling to a person in there state.

Can't say enough good things about MidwayUSA

While Midway's prices aren't always the lowest, they are an extremely well-run and ethical organization. I believe this comes from the very top - Larry Potterfield. They do not play games with pricing, inventory or try to gouge. If they say something can be backordered, they will honor the price regardless of what craziness takes place in the market.

Case in point, I had ordered a few magazines on backorder and between the time of the order and actually receiving it, these mags doubled & close to triple in price. I just received the mags yesterday.

I sure as hell can't say that about CheaperThanDirt... Order something and if the market goes up, they freaking cancel - claiming that they are out of stock, even though their website has 'em listed as on-hand and ready to ship from 2 different warehouses - day after day after day...at almost 3X the original price!!!

I have always had good luck with Midway and buy from them often. They have a large inventory and usually have what I am looking for in stock, and if it's not I can usually backorder it.

Only gripe is the $5 handling fee, if you are ordering anything under $20 it is sometimes not worth it but it has never really stopped me before.

Many people have had very good luck with MidwayUSA and so have I. Been shopping there for years and will continue as long as customer service continues.

Been ordering from them when all they sold was plastic boxes. They are a sporting goods online retail success to be certain.

Go Larry Potterfield.

Sometimes Midway will ship it UPS who then hands it over to USPS for final delivery if the item is small enough.

+1 on Midway. Done business with them for a long time. Only 1 or 2 minor problems over the years which they took care of pronto.

As long as Midway is around, I don't see why anyone would bother with dealing with those turds at Cheaper Than Dirt.

I have also had good luck with midway, they do take pride in shipping fast, good email confirmation for on line orders and often some good sale prices

Sorry to say but I have had a problem with them. I have had many well-handled orders from them over the years, but then in early January I ordered powder for reloading. The website had it listed as "in stock" and they mentioned that it ships directly from the manufacturer (Winchester -- Hodgdon in this case). I placed my order and got Larry's chipper email message about how quickly he likes to get product shipped out, etc. Said it could be 2 days due to the spike in demand. OK. Right away they charged my credit card. Did not just put a pending charge on the card; they processed the charge and it posted to my account. Then, nothing. No product delivered to me. No shipping details. Nothing. When I inquired, they said it takes 4 weeks for the manufacturer to generate a tracking number, and then 1 1/2 more weeks for the items to actually ship out from the manufacturer. Meanwhile, they have collected money from my credit card account. Well, here we are, beyond the 4 weeks and still no tracking number. When I inquired to customer service about cancelling my order and getting a refund, since they still can not say when I will even get the tracking number (that supposedly comes 1 1/2 weeks before the items leave the manufacturer), they replied that they could not guarantee that the order could be canceled. Well, Federal law requires that the items ship in 30 days or less if the credit card has been charged, or a full refund must be given upon request.

At the same time that I was ordering from Midway, I also ordered powder from Natchez, as well as items from DSA and from R Guns. Natchez took about 3 weeks to ship the powder, but they did not charge the credit card until the items were on the way. R Guns took a few weeks, too, and did not charge the credit card until after the items were on the way. I got the stuff from DSA a few weeks after I ordered it, and a few days BEFORE the credit card charge was posted to my account. Only Midway charged my card for items that they knew were not going to ship for at least 4 weeks (by their estimate -- and here we are more than 4 weeks later and still the items have not shipped). That is REALLY POOR SERVICE.

As Larry Potterfield is fond of saying, AND, THAT'S THE WAY IT IS...

I feel your pain, as of January 2014 I won't be able to order any ammo anymore. Midway isn't sure if they are going to continue shipping components to NY after that either, they're still researching the new law to see if it's legal.

This must be a new policy due to the new law. I haven't heard anything about it, they were sold in NY before the new law was passed.

Midway USA is a big supporter of our youth shooting program in South Carolina. They donate thousands in cash and merchandise to support our kids. That is reason enough for them to get my business.

I feel for you guys up north. If it was me, and it was feasable I would head for a gun friendly state. No way in hell I would let them constantly increase my taxes while taking away my personal freedoms.
