Gelatin test: 7.62x39mm Hornady SST, Underwood 9mm 115 gr +P+ Gold Dot, .44

7.62x39mm 123 gr SST video link

123 gr Hornady SST loaded over 25.2 grains of Hodgdon H4198 and fired from a Norinco SKS into calibrated gelatin.

BB calibration: 609.3 3.7"

Impact velocity: 2,284 fps
Penetration: 16.7"
Retained weight: 77.0 gr
Max expansion: 0.583"
Min expansion: 0.412"







.44 mag 200 gr Gold Dot video link


.44 mag 200 gr Speer Gold Dot Short Barrel, part number 23971 fired from Ruger Super Redhawk Alaskan, 2.5" barrel through four layers of denim into calibrated gelatin.

BB calibration: 609.3, 3.7"

Impact velocity: 1,049 fps
Penetration: 15.5"
Retained weight: 199.6 gr
Max expansion: 0.809"
Min expansion: 0.607"





9mm Underwood 115 gr Gold Dot +P+ video link


9mm Underwood 115 gr Gold Dot +P+ fired from Glock 22 with Lone Wolf 9mm conversion barrel through four layers of denim into calibrated gelatin.

BB calibration: 609.3, 3.7"

Impact velocity: 1,483 fps
Penetration: 14.9"
Retained weight: 115.9 gr
Max expansion: 0.592"
Min expansion: 0.412"





ETA: on a side note, tnoutdoors9 got dramatically different results on the 9mm. I suspect it is because of the difference in media. Any other ideas?
