Arsenal Milled-AK vs Krebs stamped-AK: Pick one.

So if you had the cash, which would you spend it on? Why?

1. Arsenal milled-receiver AK (SA M7)
2. Krebs custom stamped-receiver AK

They are both around the $2K price point.

Arsenal. Bought one about 7+ yeasrs ago, SAM 7. Most accurate AK I ever shot. It shoots half dollar groups at 100 yards with factory sights. That's at a bench rest. Amazing piece of machine work. All milled and beautifully done.
Can't believe the price they are asking! What happened? I think I paid a little over $ 500.00 for mine.

I'd get a stamped Arsenal, Aimpoint t-1 on an Ultimak rail, and a bunch of ammo

I think I'd rather have the milled, just because you don't see as many of those.

It's interesting to see how people react to an AK worth $2K. I know there are AK's out there that are dirt cheap, but after handling and shooting an Arsenal milled AK, I can see a huge difference in quality.

I can easily ask why some AR's are worth over $2K, as they are plastic and are no doubt easier and faster to mass produce.

Thoughts?

Krebs.

Arsenal is the top of the line in the mass produced AK world, and I like them - alot. I own 4 of them. However, the Krebs is a finely built rifle that far exceeds the Arsenal in quality. My Arsenals run fine, but they're not without their fair share of tiny imperfections... imperfections you won't find in a Krebs custom rifle.

A $2,000 AK is not a refined instrument compared to similarly priced AR's, ACR, XCR, SCAR, etc, etc....

In the past, everytime that I've had to make that decision, I've gone with the milled Arsenal. Now I have six of the danged things (three SASM7s, two SAM7Rs and a SAM7A1) and each one is a testament to what a milled AK ought to be.

Of course, I paid no where near $2000 apiece for any of them (I bought then brand new) but it is nice to actually have rifle that has appreciated in the way that they have.

Some folks complain about the extra pound (give or take a couple of ounces) of the milled receiver over the stamped receiver variants, but the difference is really not that much of a concern especially when you see basic ARs that come in near the weight of the milled AK prior to the accessorization so common today and no one ever complains about their weight.

I like the milled AKs simply for their solidity and durability as well as their looks. In the end though, you have to go with what pleases you most as my tastes and priorities may differ significantly from yours.
