Ruger old army rear sight ?

I like to remove the rear blade on the roa any one have an idea in taking it apart
i want to install a new rear sight blade that i field down .

Funny you should ask; I just removed mine to file down and replace. Remove the side screw first, you'll need a small or needlenose vice grip, then grasp the blade with the grips, there's a half circle hole on the front Rt side of the base, there's a notch on the blade and you have to slide toward the open end and test til you line the notch with the slot and it'll come up and off, it will also slide completely out the open end, but takes alot more finessing. The hard part is replacing, be sure to catch the spring with the Lt point of the base or it won't go in. I depressed the spring with a pin punch, while guiding in the blade. I hope this helps.
