RCBS vs. Lyman

I'm looking to pick up an electronic powder dispenser. I'm looking at the Lyman DPS 1200 and the RCBS Chargemaster. Let me know your opinions on them.

I bought a Lyman because it was the first out. Bought the DPS3 upgrade and it doubled the speed of the drop. Very, very, satisfied.

I got the Chargemaster. It is my favorite piece of reloading equipment.

I want the Hornady unit but it's not out yet! Midway said expected date in stock was 2/8/2010. So I go to place my order on 2/8/2010 and it says date expected in stock 4/16/2010. Then I went to look at it yesterday and it said 3/26/2010. Now it's not even on Midway's site!!!!! What the ****!

Chargemaster

Pretty consistent. Sometimes drops too much Unique but not more than 0.1gr.
Ball powder like h110 no over drops. I've not done much with extruded/stick powders. IMR for .30'06 for just a few to get the hang of handloading for rifle. I still have a bunch from the CMP.

My Chargemaster has been going strong for over 5 years. If it broke today I would go buy a new one. RCBS customer service is top notch if you need it. That always sways me toward their way. I needed a replacement part from them once and they wouldn't even let me pay for it.
I've never used the Lyman.

I have a Lyman 1200 with the v3 upgrade. Junk I've had it for 4 years or so. Did I mention it is junk?

The new Hornady was at the Shot Show, tinker toy.

The RCBS was also at the Shot Show, very nice. When my Lyman dies again I'm getting the RCBS Chargemaster.

These scales are a "You get what you pay for" if I ever saw one.

Oh . . . dark horse for me is the PACT combo unit. At least it's made in USA. The Lyman, Hornady and RCBS are all made in China

I think I might just go the the chargemaster. There seems to be a lot of very unhappy Lyman users out there. Seems that the chargemaster gets better reviews. I found the chargemaster on sale for $279.99 too, so that makes the choice easier.

I would say RCBS on most items but I have one of the power scales and it has been nothing but junk!
