Did I get a good deal?
Walked into my local gun shop today and was ambushed by the gunsmith who I was there to see. The shop had a Maverick 12 gauge shotgun for sale that accepted 2 3/4 or 3" shells, had the synthetic forearm and stock, beaded front sight and sling swivels. With the shotgun they were including 2 extra barrels. One had adjustable iron sights and was ported at the end of the barrel,I think 5 times on each side of the front sight. The other was a vented barrel with double beads on it and the ability to use choke tubes. I was going there to ask about a gun he was working on for me but this combo seemed to good to be true. The price of this set up was $200.00. Did I make out like a bandit or did I break even? Off course I bought the shotgun. It was used but in great condition, minus a scratch on the top of the reciever.

I've no idea what a Maverick is but you sure got a lot of stuff for 200.00. If that was an 870, it would be a real steal.
Happy birthday by the way. Mike

The Mavericks are slightly off-brand Mossbergs (Made by Mossberg, as a cheaper version of the 500)
That sounds like a good deal, with two barrels. |

I'd vote for the bandit side. It's a Mossberg 500 with some cosmetic differences IIRC. The two barrels are $60 each at least, so you got the receiver for $20.00.
Shoot the heck out of it and enjoy yourself! Giz

Sounds like you did ok if you use the spare barrels for jack handles or wrench extensions.

You did fine. I wouldn't call it a steal, but I'd have bought it in a heartbeat, even if it's not an 870.
