We don't live in a thinking era. We live in a time where politicians manipulate the emotions of the masses through media and other means to achieve the results they want
I don't think we ever have lived in such an era. Research "yellow journalism", and see....

^^^^ Well, that certainly describes most of the TV news stations. In fact, it's the norm.

What a story. This paragraph speaks volumes;

Gun people don’t trust anti-gun people because when things like the Boston Marathon bombing happen, everyone correctly blames the bomber, not the bomb. Nobody is calling for bomb control because killing people with bombs is already illegal — just like killing people with guns is illegal too.

That was so amazing and so long. Took a while to finish that. lol

Amazing! We need to spread the word of this article. I wish that was a speech on TV for all the anti's to hear.

His argument sidesteps that entire argument as though we've all agreed they're human beings
Read it again. Although he did mention the taking a life thing, the more compelling part was how some pro-choice people can defend the individual right to have an abortion (which isn't an enumerated right...though through SCOTUS has been made a right), but at the same time can condemn those that believe in the individual right to keep and bear arms (an actual enumerated right, incorporated by SCOTUS through the 14th Amendment).

Having said that, I do agree that bringing up abortion in a gun control debate isn't a great idea.

That was a wonderful read...sharing it with facebook friends as we speak.

It's also not a great idea to bring it up here. That's more than enough.

Edited it out.

I just wanted to point out that I agreed with his point of view of that issue being brought up, even though I disagree on the actual issue. I apologize.

The best pro-gun editorial in a newspaper, ever!

I passed this on to a dozen others. I truly am sick of being blamed for the acts if criminals and being treated like a crazy second class citizen because I defend the whole constitution.
