I voted for TRguy's entry, because I have faith in the younger generation and women shooters especially.
Just keep those bathrooms clean at the range boys.

It is not about the gun! It is not about the gun!
Ok! Doogle got my vote! You can tell there is some effort put into this photo. From the rock to the back ground to the gun. And I have a personal issues regarding the mfg. That put aside, this is a nice photo! It is not about the gun!

it is about the gun, and according to the rules, it needs to be your gun.
I dont think its about a photoshoot and a pose. Just my humble opinion.

The "its not about the gun" statement was more intended as humor. I have had a bad experience with that mfg, so for me is was hard to apply anything positive to thier product. So my vote was "not about the gun"! As for it not being about the photo shoot or the pose, for me I would not have voted for the same gun if it was laying on a cluttered table with dirty dishes next to it! So we will have to agree to disagree! Now back to the votes! Debating our opinions are for the other threads!

I meant no disrespect, just think there are some very high end photos coming to the contest, well beyond my abilities, so I didn't try this month. I have some beautiful weapons, but they are not going to compete with some of the entries ive seen in the past few months, so i am just enjoying them instead.
I am into the young and new shooters, so I like to see the candid camera shots. I liked the one two months ago, I think, where the boy was shooting across the hood of the car, and the dad caught the Garand clip pinging. Good stuff. Its all about the memories we create and recall. My FFL and his attorney are trying to open a family oriented range, with a Disneyland like environment, with a plinking area, and a restaurant, geared toward the females and families. He and I agree that, the women feel a little out of place at our ranges, so they bring their boyfriends and hubbies etc to escort them. We all know there are more single ladies, and professional women who are living alone, and getting into CCW, so we need to create an environment that will encourage them to attend, and in our case, we always say to give them a clean ladies washroom. I guess you had to be there! I hope we can get it going, he has asked me to come out of retirement and range officiate/instruct. He better hurry up, I'm not getting any younger. I will need the money, if things keep going the way they are. Cheers

I chose los's entry...again...>
...and I like this one more than his last entry. This is a pleasing composition with moody directional lighting. The colours and especially the mix of textures with the leather, metal, and bone(?) grips makes for an interesting image.

No disrespect taken!
That is the cool thing about the forum and voting. Many different things can attrack our votes to a photo. I agree with the high end photos. It is hard to throw up one of my cell phone pics and expect to compeate. I personally just throw up my pics to share my toys! I also like the idea of the youth, both male & female, getting involved in shooting! Best of luck with the range!

Agreed, do what you can with what you have, and enjoy it! Don't worry so much about what other people have/do. Enjoy their images for what they are and you'd be surprised, some of them probably enjoy your cell phone images too.
I voted for los (#6). Love the varied textures.. the rough hewn table, the shiny nickel? finish, the horn handle, and the rich leather. Combined it's just a classic feel. Also, for those with lower-end cameras, I'm betting los' image was shot with just an open window for light. Soft natural light does wonders for photographs. Kodiakbeer got my vote, the postcard scenery and rifle put me in mind of some kind of cold war european I don't know.
Makes no sense, but it looks really amazing.
