The Colt Gold Cup of course.... why, because it's a Colt and I don't own one yet.

Custom series 70 would be by choice. Its proven itself for a while now. If I could have two my second choice would be the high power. I have a soft spot for both of them.

My stock MKIII Browning Hi Power is my most accurate centerfire pistol out of many very good ones from various manufacturers. It is the most naturally pointing, although my CZ's, and HK P7's come really close. The P7 is just about as accurate and naturally pointing, but the BHP does have the ability to carry 15 + 1 with flush fit Mec Gar magazines, in a pretty slim, compact package for a service pistol. It just plain works.
Just to clarify, I think many of these pistols have pretty equal mechanical accuracy. The grip, grip angle, trigger, balance are all personal factors and what I may shoot better may not work as well for others. I'd be happy taking any of the above or a 1911, and some others. There are a lot of good alternatives, obviously.

I think the right answer is Glock 17 but I voted Glock 19 because it's a compact and renders itself to concealed carry a little more easily. Since you didn't give a purpose in your OP, I'm assuming all purposes.

From your list the BHP because I shoot them well and I have mine already picked out.
If I could only choose one gun from my collection it would be a tough choice between my custom BHP & my Les Baer TRS..... Coming in third would be my custom Colt COO.

My real 1st choice would be a S&W model 19, otherwise a 1911.

Wow...interesting results. The Glock 19 is 1st, SIG P226 is 2nd, and my Custom Colt 70 Series is 3rd.
Very very interesting. I saw things going a little differently. Those were the top three I though would be in the top 5 though. Gold Cup? P220? I wish I could respond to all of those before I have to head out the door! I'll be back! |

You can't go wrong with the Sig P220.
But if you would rather carry a 9mm then the Glock 19 is the one to carry. |

Since my carry gun today is a Hunter Custom on a 70 series type build, you can guess how I voted.
I keep coming back to 1911s for quick accuracy. Edit: changed "frame" to build, since series 70 components are more in the slide; added pic. Last edited by MLeake; January 9, 2013 at 12:02 PM. |

Accurate as can be. I need more training on the 1911 though. My muscle memory is tuned to SIG and Glock under stress. |

Grab and GO!
If by GO, we mean that I'm running in to a gun show to sell a gun at the speed of light, I'd grab the Glock 19. Might be -the- easiest gun to sell immediately. Everyone thinks they want one. If I'm expected for tea & crumpets with some high brow folks at a mansion on the hill, maybe the HK would be a good choice since those guys need to spend more on their goodies...I could fit right in. If I'm headed to a photo shoot and I need something pretty, a Hi-Power would fit that bill...as long as it's got a gorgeous, deep blue finish. Hopefully the photographer doesn't want to feel the dicey trigger, the obnoxiously vague trigger reset and I -really- hope we don't end up discussing magazine disconnect safeties... If I get cornered, I'll show him the way-cool mousetrap magazines and attempt to re-direct him from the trigger woes. (which would fit right in with a spring loaded magazine that's required to make up for the mag safety, so it comes full circle! ) If I'm keeping it, a safe bet is the Colt Gold Cup Trophy. Always liked the look of these... a classic look that predates all the great looking 1911's on the market today. Safer bet than "Custom Series 70" because an undefined "custom" could mean that it was cut in half with a blow torch and then JB-welded back together. I could grab one of the SIGs...and maybe if I find a quality engraver, I could have him etch a little anchor on the slide and jack the value up a few hundred bucks! No offense, just trying to have some fun with these.

Easy decision for me, the Sig P226 E2 in 9mm. I have a P229 E2 9mm and its my favorite gun, in fact I came in 3rd place last night in a timed bowling pin shoot and I havent shot in over a month (pistols that is). I want to like Glocks but I just cant, on paper the G19 is perfect, in my hand it just doesnt feel right and I cant shoot it worth a darn.

Sig P220. Sig quality, great sights, .45 caliber. This will get you through most jams should your rifle go down or run out of ammo.

If it were only one gun, my choice would be the Sig 226 E2, 9mm

Colt Series 70 1911, because Colt, Series 70, 1911, .45 ACP.
Actually, if I could only have one gun, it would probably be a Smith & Wesson Model 629 with a 4" barrel, but that wasn't on the list.

P220 stainless.
Less finicky than a 1911. I've never had one break that someone didn't unnecessarily screw with it. After the P220 I'd take a 1911 that had a custom reliability/trigger job from a custom shop like Alchemy. |

Out of those, I chose the SIG Sauer P226 E2 9mm. I thought about the Hi-Power, but I like the features, durability, accuracy, and ability to handle hot 9mm of the Sig a little better.

I voted P226. Bought mine in 40 but I have a 9mm factory spring and Bar-Sto barrel, plus Hogue grips and good lord she shoots smooth.

center fire semi auto's
While I did vote for the Browning Hi Power in this poll....I just got done shooting 150 rounds of .45 auto 230 FMJ ammo through my relatively new SIG P220 match stainless and really like it ! Much better trigger than the stock BHP and very comfortable to shoot & control the .45 in this fairly hefty stainless full size P220 match model . Just wow, if it came down to these two pistols for me it would be a very tough choice in fact I wouldn't do it anyway !

I would pick a Sig 226 due to its reliability, combat proven with the seals.
