carbon ring in a .357 lever action?

I've heard about the carbon ring that can build up in .357 revolver cylinders if a person shoots a lot of .38 sp. cartridges. I'm wondering if a similar problem (a ring in the chamber) can develop when shooting a lot of .38 specials in a .357/.38sp. carbine. Can anyone educate me on this matter?

I don't see why it wouldn't, it happens because the 38 Spec case is shorter than the 357 Mag case and the carbon builds up in the area in front of the case mouth. The 38 Spec is shorter than a 357 Mag whether it is in a revolver or a rifle. So yes, you will get a carbon ring in the chamber. Not a problem as long as you clean your rifle.

DING DING DING!!!
We Have a WINNAH!!!

Totally True.

Back in the old days, when folks maybe shot 6 rounds a year (three to sight in, two-three at deer/etc)
in that kind of situation, you rarely have to clean your rifle...

Shooting SASS/Cowboy action, you better detail strip & clean that thang after every weekend!!

AND...you have to clean it After shooting .38's, BEFORE firing .357 ammo, avoids lots of issues that way...
