competition shooting

I don't know much about pistol competition shooting.

What are the governing bodies and classes?

Are there 22 pistol competitions? Anything else seems like a lot of $ to practice with.

There are .22 divisions in Steel Challenge and local NRA Action Pistol matches.
Also in Bowling Pin, Silhouette and Bullseye matches.
Also Ruger Rimfire matches.
Steel Challenge is run by USPSA.org.
Silhouette is run by NRA and IHMSA.
Hope this helps some, at least enough to get started looking.

There's a competition forum just below this one.

Ask there please.
