Somebody know if you can put grips from one subcompact to the next? Are the holes the same?

Any of the grips that are marked for the Officer size frame will work on the Kimber Ultra.

Subcompact would refer to something the size of the Springfield EMP. Kimber does not offer a 1911 in that size. Their models are classified as compact which is also called officer size.

1911a1 size custom grips....

There are many cool after market or custom grips for 1911 type pistols.
Hogue & Craig Spegel are highly rated.
Hogues have many options & styles(wood, alloy, rubber, nylon).
