Fly hunting...

So I spent some time at the range today. There was only a mild breeze today. I wanted to try out a different ammo too.

I setup my targets. I just used 1 inch diameter sticker dots today at 50 yards. Here's some of my better ones.

Then about 20 minutes before I was finished, a fly landed on the paper next to the target I was shooting at. So of course I was unable to resist.

I lined that sucker up and....

T'was a good day at the range. I hope to go again on Friday.

Very niiice [/borat]

If you do a search over at rimfirecentral, there's quite a few peeps who have posted pics of fly remains on their targets like that. Beats tiddly-winks anyway!

This is my rifle. http://www.pisnnapalm.com/pics/04-03-07_1341.jpg

Anschutz 54 model 1413 I think... It's technically my wife's rifle from our days shooting for the high school rifle team. The stock was customized by her uncle to lighten it.

Thanks. I've since bought it a proper Caldwell front benchrest. It helped cut my group size almost in half. The bag I got is too wide for the stock though. I'm waiting for the medium width bag to get here.

I've got a Bushnell 2-12x40mm scope with parallax adjustment. I had no problems seeing the fly at 50 yards. Hitting it though was a bit of luck.

I killed a swimming minnow with a BB pistol once. My buddy didn't believe me so I waded in and recovered it.

Nice shot.

You must put a "GRAPHIC" warning in your title if you are to post these bloody pictures.

LOL! I was quite surprised that it left a bloody mark on the paper. I wasn't expecting that.

Nice shot! I assume you recovered the carcass, skinned it and tagged it. Are you going to have it mounted?

Re:pisnapalm

Was it fly season? Did you have the proper license and tags for that?

I haven't been able to recover the carcass. I'm pretty sure the bullet skinned it. We all know that I tagged the hell out of it.

I do not know if it was fly season or not. Shhhh... I'm using the story that it just flew in front of my bullet. I wasn't actually aiming for it. Yeah... that's the ticket. I sneezed and jerked the shot wide right.

A woman walked into the kitchen to find her husband stalking around with a fly swatter. "What are you doing?" She asked. "Hunting Flies" He responded.
"Oh. Killing any?" She asked.

"Yep, 3 males, 2 Females," he replied..

Intrigued, she asked. "How can you tell?"

He responded, "3 were on a beer can, 2 were on the phone."
