Training barrel?

JohnSka posted a link to an article at Cornered cat that mentioned a concept of dry firing with an inert training barrel.

linked article: https://www.corneredcat.com/article/...y-fire-safety/

The link the article provided for the training barrel: http://shop.blade-tech.com/training-...-c-81_123.html

Unfortunately, it seems that the inert training barrel is no longer available.

Does anyone make a reasonably affordable substitute that will work in Springfield XD series? I'm not find anything, but I REALLY like the concept of dry firing with an inert barrel.

Some alternatives. Not exactly the same thing, but the same general idea. The block prevents a round from being chambered, is readily visible and can not be removed without disassembling the firearm.

And, of course

Oh wow, these things look like a toy I had once as a kid. I wish I could remember it but it was so long ago.
